Bhaskarvarman, who reigned from around 600 to 650 CE, is one of the most celebrated rulers of ancient Kamarupa. His reign is significant in the history of northeastern India due to his diplomatic relations, military campaigns, and contributions to the cultural and political landscape of the region.
Bhaskarvarman belonged to the Varman dynasty, which ruled Kamarupa from the 4th to the 12th century. He was the son of King Susthitavarman and ascended the throne around 600 CE after his father's death.

After his death around 650 CE, Bhaskarvarman was succeeded by his brother, Avantivarman, as he had no heirs. The Varman dynasty continued to rule Kamarupa for several more centuries, but Bhaskarvarman remained its most illustrious ruler.
